Bandipora, Jan 13: Higher reaches of Gurez in Bandipora experienced light snow on Saturday.
Kashmir has been experiencing prolonged dry spell this winter and special congregational prayers were offered to pray for rain and snow.
According to reports, Bagtore, Tulail, Kilshay and Churwan areas witnessed snowfall this morning.
“Razdan Pass, the gateway to this mountainous valley, received light snowfall late last night. But the road was through for traffic,” an official said.
Meanwhile, residents said that the ongoing dry spell has facilitated smooth agricultural activities in Gurez Valley, a scenario that would have been challenging with early snow.
The road leading to Gurez which would get closed in November due to heavy snowfall is still through till now and residents are getting fresh supplies.
In the village of Sardaab in Tulail, a video has gone viral showing the unusual practice of agricultural activities such as plowing and taking out potatoes, a practice undertaken in May.
“This departure from the usual timeline reflects the challenges posed by the unusual weather conditions which prompted us to adapt their practices to the changing environment,” said Abdul Rashid a former.
