Ganderbal, Feb 13: Residents of Kalspati village of Rayil in Gund area of Ganderbal are grappling with daily challenges caused by a deteriorating wooden footbridge over Nallah Sindh.
The bridge, which has been in a dilapidated state for several years, connects three villages in the area and poses a significant risk to hundreds of families.
Due to the bridge’s current condition, locals encounter severe difficulties, exacerbated by the overflow of water in the river.
“It becomes extremely difficult for the people to cross the Nallah Sindh, which swells up during the rainy and winter season,” a local said.
He disclosed that every year, they construct a temporary bridge over the stream but during the rainy and winter seasons, the gushing waters wash away the bridge, leaving people with no option to cross the Nallah Sindh.
“During rains and the winter season, the area remains cut off from the rest of the Ganderbal district,” he added.
