Over 400 posts lying vacant at GMC Anantnag

Anantnag, Feb 23: Around 400 gazetted and non-gazetted positions, excluding those filled on academic arrangements, remain vacant at the Government Medical College in Anantnag.
According to details, the vacant positions comprise around 100 gazetted and approximately 300 non-gazetted posts, with an additional 130 positions filled through academic arrangements.
Information obtained through a Right to Information (RTI) request filed by an individual MM Shuja reveals that out of the 23 sanctioned positions for professors, only one permanent professor is currently posted, while nine are filled through academic arrangements and 13 remain vacant.
Out of the 32 sanctioned positions for associate professors, 26 permanent associate professors are posted, leaving six vacant positions.
Of the 50 positions designated for assistant professors/lecturers, 23 are occupied by permanent staff, 11 are filled through academic arrangements, and 16 remain vacant.
As per details, two positions for lady medical officers, one child psychologist, and seven casualty medical officers are also vacant.
Among non-gazetted staff, all 58 positions for demonstrators have been filled through academic arrangements. For the 78 positions of registrars/senior residents, 52 have been filled through academic arrangements, leaving 26 vacant positions.
Six consultant positions and eight medical officer positions also remain vacant.
In the non-gazetted category, 64 positions for nursing staff, 85 positions for paramedical staff, and 174 other positions are also vacant at GMC Anantnag.
