The schools have reopened after the gap of nearly three months when Kashmir witnessed severe cold. The students were seen enthusiastically attending their first classes after the winter vacations. The government had ordered closure of schools in a phased manner in Kashmir division from November-28-2023 to February-29-2024. For primary level classes’ upto 8th standard, the vacations were announced from November-28 to February-29-2024 and from 9th standard onwards upto 12th standard, the vacations were announced from December-11 to February-29-2024 respectively. The vacations were extended by few days due inclement weather conditions. However, for the first time, Kashmir has seen a new and attractive gesture from the school education department as the top officials from the department were seen welcoming the students to their schools by distributing the gifts, sweets and toffees among them. This gesture is appreciable and a welcome move, which would bridge the gap between the teachers and the students. Such an environment is necessary for ensuring the best ties between the students and teachers, which would help the department to achieve the goal of transforming the educational sector. Bridging the gap between the students and teachers will end up in making a cordial atmosphere for imparting training, skills and education among the future of the nation. The department concerned must focus on such an initiative further to set an example, which will enable the students to get education in a good environment and also help them to achieve their goals of a better career in life.
