Ganderbal, Mar 5: The road from main market Kullan to Rezan Sonamarg in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district is in dilapidated condition for the last one year, leaving the local residents to lurch at large.
Accusing the higher ups for ignoring the plights, the locals and transporters here have demanded immediate redressal of their genuine grievances. They said this road connects around dozens of villages and such a pathetic condition of the road is pushing them to the wall.
“We are facing immense hardships due to the dilapidated condition of the road connecting our areas,” the locals said, adding that the government’s tall claims of providing better connectivity have proven false.
They said that they approached the higher ups several times but unfortunately nobody paid heed to their sufferings.
A delegation of drivers said that they are being forced to face tremendous hardships due to the non macadamization of the road.
They further stated that the road has developed potholes at several places from Rezan to Gagangeer due to which the commuters as well as transporters are facing trouble. This problem manifolds during rains and snowfall, which makes the roads accident-prone, they said.
The passenger vehicles have suffered damages due to the bad condition of the roads. “Our vehicles have incurred heavy damages due to dilapidated condition of the road. The drivers mostly avoid plying on this road as a result of which the passengers have to bear the brunt,” a driver said.
The residents have appealed to the concerned authorities to macadamize the road at an earliest so that the people do will not face hardships.
