Baramulla, Mar 13: Prime Minister, Narendra Modi Wednesday launched SURAJ programme, an outreach program for disadvantaged sections of the society and interacted with beneficiaries of various government schemes from disadvantaged groups, including Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes and sanitation workers.
At the Dak Bungalow in Baramulla, sanitation workers representing various Municipalities including Baramulla, Watergam, Pattan, Uri, Tangmarg, and Sopore, along with beneficiaries of the NAMASTE scheme, gathered to attentively listen to the Prime Minister’s insightful address.
The Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa along with district Social Welfare Officer and other district officers also attended the session.
During the session, the Prime Minister emphasized that the nation is marking significant strides in advancing the welfare of deprived and marginalized communities and elaborated that today’s event showcases the government’s unwavering dedication to prioritizing the needs of the underprivileged.
The Prime Minister, reflecting on his engagement with the beneficiaries, expressed contentment with the effective distribution of welfare schemes to marginalized communities, including deprived, and backward groups.
Later, the DC, distributed personal protective equipment (PPE) kits among the sanitation workers of various municipalities, enabling them to carry out their duties safely and effectively.
