Srinagar, Mar 31: Police in Baramulla have arrested six gamblers and seized stake money and playing cards from their possession.
Acting on a specific information regarding gambling activities in orchards of Shalbooni Pattan, a Police party headed by IC PP Mirgund under the supervision of SDPO Pattan raided the specific spot and apprehended 6 gamblers and recovered stake money of Rs 8,700/- and playing cards from their possession.
They have been identified as Abdul Majeed Rather son of Gh Hassan resident of Badibugh Magam, Muzaffar Hussain Beigh son of Ghulam Hussain resident of Gund Khawaja Qasim, Abdul Majeed Lone son of Abdul Ahad, Ghulam Ahmad Ganie son of Abdul Khaliq, Habibullah Khanday son of Ghulam Qadir all residents of Hanjiwera Bala & Nazir Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Ishaq resident of Kanterbugh. They have been shifted to PS Pattan where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered at PS Pattan and investigation has been initiated.
Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
