Secretary Health visits SKIMS MC&H

Inspects healthcare, interacts with students, faculty

Srinagar, Apr 2: Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Tuesday visited SKIMS Medical College and Hospital (MC&H) and reviewed functioning of the institute.
He had a comprehensive round of various units of the hospital to assess the medical facilities available for the patients.
During his visit, the Secretary also interacted with the faculty and the students and underscored the need for a broad based interaction among the students and the teachers.
He assessed the current state of healthcare infrastructure and services at SKIMS MC&H, focusing on patient care, infrastructure, medical equipment and overall operational efficiency of the hospital.
Interacting with the doctors and other staff, Dr. Abid Rasheed said that the goal is to ensure that the medical facilities meet the highest standards.
The Secretary visited various departments including Ophthalmology, Physiology, Anatomy, Community Medicine and other related infrastructure and took first hand appraisal of each facility.
He also interacted with the patients as well as attendants and had feedback from them about the healthcare facilities being provided there.
While interacting with the medicos, Dr Abid said that SKIMS Medical College and Hospital is a pivotal medical institute and they have a responsibility towards providing better care to the patients.
Highlighting the need for creating a professional work culture for enhanced outcomes, he encouraged faculty members to create innovative models of teaching having a positive impact.
Dr. Abid Rasheed also called for ensuring cleanliness in and around the hospital which is a prerequisite for health of the patients. He also visited the hospital canteen and issued strict instructions to the concerned for maintaining highest standards of hygiene.
The Secretary, on the occasion, also interacted with the students and sought first hand feedback from them about the quality of education being provided to them.
