Pulwama’s circular road in dilapidated condition

Locals urge authorities to carry out repairs

Pulwama, Apr 5: A vital road in Pulwama town is lying in dilapidated condition at several places with locals urging the authorities to carry out repairs to avoid inconvenience to commuters.
People from several areas of Pulwama and Shopian said that the road is being used by commuters coming from Shopian-Srinagar and vice versa to bypass main town Pulwama.
They said this is one of the important roads with a huge rush of traffic as it connects SIDCO Lassipora road as well.
They said that despite knowing its importance, the road hasn’t been repaired or macadamized for a long time now.
Mohammad Altaf, a resident of Pulwama town said that the road is lying in dilapidated condition at several spots due to which people using this route are suffering.
He said that this vital road hasn’t been macadamized for a long time now due to which its condition has worsened at several spots.
Locals said that they are thankful to the government for constructing this road but the need of the hour is its proper maintenance.
They added that daily passengers and other people using this route are suffering.
They said that this issue was brought to the notice of concerned authorities several times to no avail.
They requested higher ups especially Deputy Commissioner Pulwama to look into the matter and take immediate steps in this regard so that people won’t suffer anymore.
