Srinagar May 11: In a bid to enhance voters participation in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, a mass voter awareness program (Jashn-e-Intikhab) was organized under Systematic Voters’ Education and Education Programme (SVEEP) at picturesque Chashma Shahi Garden here Saturday.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), P K Pole was the chief guest on the occasion while the District Election Officer (DEO) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud- Din Bhat joined the event as guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, the CEO appreciated the organisers for organising this awareness campaign under SVEEP. He hoped that large number of people will participate in the voting process in 2-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency on May 13, 2024 for Lok Sabha Elections-2024 and mark their duty to determine the country’s democracy.
DEO Srinagar in address urged the students to carry forward the message regarding democratic rights to their parents, relatives and community underscoring significance of their participation in nation-building through elections. He said that well-informed electorate is fundamental in ensuring a vibrant and representative democracy
During the programme, students of Kashmir University and Artists of Tulkul Arts presented Nukkad Natak based on voters awareness while the Sufi brothers presented Qawali, filling the whole atmosphere with their mesmerising voices.
On this occasion, a mock polling station was set up by NIIT Srinagar students while the students associated with Music and Fine Art department of Kashmir University created pictures regarding the duty of voting through canvas painting.
Later, the chief guest distributed the certificates among the participants and closed the SVEEP campaign for Srinagar by releasing the tricolor balloons in air.
