SPREAD-A mission for new destinations

The resumption of the much-awaited Peoples Grievances Redressal Programme (PGRP) by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief has once again generated the hopes among the common masses, who get a chance to meet and interact with a top Police officer directly to get their issues and grievances resolved. The programme was kept on hold for sometime as the elections were announced and held in Jammu & Kashmir like other parts of the country. However, during this period, the people felt alienated as their issues and grievances got stuck for a short time. Nonetheless, as the programme has been resumed by the Director General of Police (DGP), the hopes come alive once again for the people, who met him Saturday in Pulwama and raised multiple issues. Some of the delegations have demanded change in the concerned Police Stations while some others raised other different and genuine issues. This programme has played a key role for the common masses to get their issues and grievances redressed at the shortest possible time. Such programmes are the need of the hour and needs to be started at the lower level at the administrative level as well so that the people won’t find themselves alienated and their issues would get redressed without being pushed to the wall. The Deputy Commissioners especially should take a cue from DGP’s PGRP and should start a weekly programme to meet the people directly in different areas so that they would get a chance to speak about the basic needs and facilities.
