Budgam, Jun 21: Zubaida, affectionately known as Zob Saeb, a highly revered spiritual figure from Charar-i-Sharief in Budgam, passed away early Friday morning at the age of 95 after a brief illness.
Her death has sent waves of grief across the region, drawing thousands of mourners to her hometown to pay their final respects.
Hundreds of people thronged the residence of Zob Saeb soon after the news of her demise spread.
The funeral procession, led by her grandson Iqbal Nayazi, took place in the yard of Khanqah Faiz Panah, a notable religious site in Charar-i-Sharief. The gathering included people from all walks of life.
Several social organisations have expressed deep sorrow over her demise. Malik Javaid, a mourner from Budgam, said, “Zob Saeb’s legacy as a spiritual leader in Kashmir Valley is enduring. Her teachings and benevolent influence will be remembered and cherished for generations. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of many who looked up to her for spiritual guidance and solace.”
Another mourner said that Zubaida’s passing has profoundly affected her followers, who held a deep devotion to her spiritual guidance and teachings. Her enduring legacy will continue to inspire and guide future generations in the Kashmir Valley, he said.
