The tourist flow has been increasing with each passing day in Jammu and Kashmir while Srinagar Mughal Gardens too have become the major attractions with thousands of people visiting the spot on a regular basis. However, the ongoing construction work outside the Nishat Garden has been pushing the tourists as well as the local commuters to wall as the work as per the media reports, has not been completed for the several months, indicating that the work is going at snail’s pace. The spot, which is being visited by hundreds of people on a regular basis, should have got the foremost attention of the concerned authorities and the work outside the Mughal Garden should have been completed in the shortest possible time. However, the concerned officials seemingly have failed to make sure that the flow of tourists is not affected by ensuring the early completion of the work and for the last couple of months; the vehicular movement continues to get hampered outside the garden. The locals have claimed that the work on the road stretch connecting Foreshore Road and Shalimar Garden Road to the city centre via Boulevard has been going at a snail’s pace. The barricades have been raised, and the construction material is lying around, choking the traffic. In order to bring respite to the commuters and also the tourists visiting the garden, there is a need to ensure early completion of the construction work. The executing agency should be directed to speed up the pace of the work and ensure that the work is completed without any further delay.
