The heat wave has been recorded in Srinagar and two other locations in the Valley due to which many youngsters, especially the minors have been witnessed taking a bath at vulnerable spots including the river Jhelum. However, such happenings have once again led to the devastating incident as a little boy from Habba Kadal area of Srinagar, has drowned while taking bath in the river Jhelum at Habba Kadal on Sunday. Such incidents have always been reported in the summers as the youngsters continue to take bath at the vulnerable spots. The SDRF has been continuously making efforts to retrieve the body of the little boy, but so far the efforts have not yielded any results. There has been although the directions from the authorities to curb such happenings by stopping the people from taking bath at the vulnerable spots, but unfortunately the incidents like Habba Kadal continue to take place as the young boys could be seen taking bath in river Jhelum and other places, thereby paving way for the devastating incidents here. At this juncture, the local police should play a key role in curbing such incidents by ensuring that nobody is allowed to take bath at these vulnerable spots so that such incidents are put to an immediate end. There is a need to identify all these spots where the youngsters have been seen taking bath and immediate action should be taken so that the loss of lives can be prevented well on time.
