While the heat wave has gripped Kashmir Valley including the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, the weatherman has sounded alert for the flash floods, saying the light to moderate rains are expected here, which will lead to the mudslides, landslides as well as the flash floods. At this juncture, the government needs to take immediate measures and ensure that the adequate arrangements are made well on time to avoid any untoward incident. Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a huge deluge almost a decade ago, which not only led to the loss to the properties but also claimed several lives as well. However, the flash floods from time to time also added to the miseries of the common masses. Therefore, the district administrations should be directed at this juncture to take requisite measures and ensure elaborate arrangements so that the damage to the properties is avoided in case of flash floods as predicted by the weatherman. The concerned Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) department should pull up the socks and press its men and machinery into the services to take necessary measures well on time so that the people could heave a sigh of relief. The Lieutenant Governor led administration should play its role in activating the administration ahead of the wet spell and ensure the safety of the properties and the lives of the people. The early preparations could help the common masses to breathe a sigh of relief amidst the flash floods, predicted by the local Meteorological department.
