Srinagar, Jul 10: In a significant development, National Conference (NC) is mulling to effect changes in the party structure and has started discussions over it, sources disclosed.
Sources disclosed that Jammu & Kashmir’s grand old party has begun discussions on effecting changes in the party structure, which would require an amendment in its constitution.
“The party has decided to go for changes in the organizational structure given the existing requirements due to increase in population,” they said.
Sources disclosed that the party is likely to increase the number of posts of vice-president and general secretary. Currently, the party has one post each of vice-president and general secretary.
According to sources, the party is likely to rechristen some existing organizational positions to bring them in sync with the existing requirements.
“These changes would require amendments in the party structure,” they said, adding that discussions over the proposal have already begun.
They said the party has sought feedback from its leaders to finalise the proposal. The party is effecting these changes at a time when it is preparing for Assembly polls after winning two out of three Lok Sabha seats it contested in J&K.
