Srinagar, Jul 12: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq today vehemently opposed the proposal to install smart water meters in Srinagar.
The ill-conceived measure, Tanvir Sadiq said, will push the already suffering residents of the city to their breaking point. “The idea of imposing such a burden on the people of Srinagar is not only unjust but also cruel. We urge the authorities to reconsider this decision and prioritize the needs and concerns of the people above all else. The fate of Srinagar teeters on the brink, plagued by soaring unemployment rates, artisan struggles, dwindling incomes. It is crucial that we take immediate action to avert further suffering and inequality. The future of this city hangs in the balance and the NC once in power will act decisively and provide an administrative cushion to our people and overturn all the unjust measures imposed by this undemocratic government.”
“Our people in Srinagar are already struggling under the weight of inflation and increased power tariffs. How can they possibly afford to pay hefty water dues when they can’t even afford two square meals for themselves? Their backs are already broken, and now they are being pushed to the brink of despair. It is a cruel and unjust burden that they are being forced to bear. When NC assumes power, we will alleviate our people of the burdens imposed by successive governments since 2014. We cannot stand idle while our people suffer to make ends meet. We are acutely aware of the hardships faced by our people,” he said.
