In Jammu, 50 security personnel killed by terrorists in the last 32 months

Jammu, Jul 26: The Jammu and Kashmir region has been experiencing a spike in terror attacks since the beginning of 2024. Four Indian Army soldiers, including an officer, have been killed in action in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Monday, taking the total number of Army personnel and other security forces killed in the past 32 months to 50 in the Jammu region.
Moreover twelve security personnel, including an Army major, 10 civilians killed in terrorist attacks since January 1, 2024.
Timeline of major attacks in recent past
July 15: Four Army soldiers were killed in action in Desa Doda.
July 8: Five Army personnel were killed in action and five others injured after terrorists attacked a military convoy in Machedi forest area of Billawar, Kathua district.
June 26: Three foreign terrorists were killed in a gunfight in a forested area of the Doda district.
June 12: A policeman was injured in a terrorist attack in Doda district.
June 11/12: Two foreign terrorists and a CRPF jawan were killed in a gunfight after terrorists attacked a joint checkpost in the Kathua district. Five Rashtriya Rifles personnel and a Special Police Officer were also injured in a terrorist attack in Doda district.
June 9: Nine pilgrims were killed and 42 were injured in a terrorist attack on a bus in the Reasi district.
May 4: One IAF personnel was killed and five were injured in a terrorist attack in Poonch district.
April 28: A village defence guard was killed in an encounter with terrorists in Basantghar, Udhampur district.
April 22: A government employee was shot dead by terrorists in Rajouri district.
December 21, 2023: Four soldiers killed in action and three others were wounded in an ambush by terrorists after they fired at two army vehicles in southern Poonch district.
November 22, 2023: Five soldiers, including two captains, were killed in action.
April-May 2023: 10 soldiers martyred in twin attacks.
May 13, 2022: Four persons were killed after a pilgrim bus was attacked in Katra.
December 14, 2021: Four soldiers were killed in action.
There has been a recent surge in terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir with terrorists changing tactics to target the peaceful Jammu region in place of heavily secured Kashmir.
