Srinagar, Sep 7: National Conference (NC) Vice President and former chief minister of erstwhile J&K state Omar Abdullah on Saturday said that the independent candidates contesting the assembly elections are no different from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Addressing the party workers at Shalbugh area of Ganderbal, Omar said that the Union Minister has clearly hinted at forging post-poll alliance with Apni Party, Peoples Conference, Awami Ittehad Party by not mentioning their names in Jammu over the possibility of alliance in Jammu and Kashmir to form the next government.
“The Union Home Minister has revealed the names of parties with whom BJP is not going to forge any alliance to form the next government. But, it has not mentioned the names of AP, PC and AIP,” Omar said.
Furthermore, Omar said that the people behind the bars are being fielded against him during the elections, adding that the process started from Baramulla Lok Sabha elections and it continued in assembly polls, which he has finally exposed by choosing Budgam instead of Beerwah.
Moreover, without naming the former party leader Ishfaq Jabbar, Omar said he has never met him with regard to the sufferings of people in Ganderbal since 2019 and was pushing him to talk to the agencies and New Delhi to make the relations better with them.
He appealed to the people to give him a chance to serve them.
“Those who are raising fingers and claim that I don’t belong to the constituency should reveal whether they have worked more than him for the constituency. I am ready to quit from the seat if they prove their work is better than mine,” Omar said.
Pertinently, Omar held a series of meetings in different areas including Kachan, Chadoona, Wakura, Batawina and Safapora. He also chaired workers meeting at Beehma Public Park.
