AIDS victims deserve compassion, not condemnation: Sakeena Itoo

Srinagar, Sep 12: Iltija Mufti Thursday challenged the BJP’s Kashmir narrative saying people of Kashmir are more alienated than before.
In an exclusive interview with Aaj Tak ‘Panchayat’, Iltija criticized the BJP-led Central government for allegedly removing locals from their land and jobs, leading to widespread disempowerment and hopelessness among young people. Her election agenda focuses on employment, skill development, and addressing the drug crisis and mental health issues affecting the youth.
She emphasized her desire to be recognized as an individual, rather than just her mother’s daughter.
When discussing her political approach, Iltija revealed a blend of her mother’s emotional and her grandfather’s strategic styles. She acknowledged the challenges of politics in Jammu and Kashmir, where vote bank politics often prevail, but emphasized the importance of doing what one believes in.
Regarding a possible poll alliance between the National Conference and Congress, Iltija remained cautious, stating that it’s too early to predict. She expressed confidence in the PDP’s position and dismissed the BJP’s chances of forming a government, predicting a coalition government instead.
In a subtle dig at the National Conference, Iltija highlighted the discrepancy between their theoretical and practical actions, emphasizing the PDP’s commitment to following through on their promises. [KNT]
