Srinagar, Oct 21: Minister for education Sakina Itoo Monday said that the government will restore the academic session next year to November-December.
Earlier, in 2022, the Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education and School Education Department has said that the Uniform Academic Calendar shall be followed from academic year 2022-23.
The education minister Sakina Itoo said, “We are most likely restoring the academic session to November-December from the next academic year.”
“This year it is not possible but in the next year, we will restore it with all stakeholders on board,” Itoo said adding that she was getting a number of calls from the concerned stakeholders to restore the previous academic session.
Itoo further said, “I have asked the concerned officials to provide me details of infrastructure issues. Besides, I have also came to know that there is a dearth of staff in school education department.”
Meanwhile, Itoo on Monday chaired an introductory meet of School Education Department—reviews its functioning.
Itoo in the meeting held detailed deliberations on various aspects of SED besides discussing issues and concerns of the department.
During the meeting, the minister asserted that there was a need of collaborative efforts for enhancing educational outcomes for students across the region.
Itoo in the meeting said, “Our primary goal is to ensure that every child receives quality education in line with requirements of today’s scientific and digital world.”
During the meeting, she also directed the Principal Secretary of School Education Département to identify vacant posts at all levels and refer them to recruiting agencies for filling at the earliest.
The minister further asked both the directors of school education of Jammu and Kashmir regions to organise training modules for teachers in their respective divisions to ensure that educators are equipped with the latest pedagogical skills.
Itoo also impressed upon both the directors to upgrade facilities at all girls hostels. (KNO)
