Srinagar, Nov 14: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in south Kashmir’s Kulgam and Anantnag districts and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party of PP Mirbazar at a checkpoint established in village Nipora Sadoora intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK14-4483 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Mohd Maroof son of Hassin Din resident of Reasi and Jaswant Raj son of Tej Ram resident of Reasi. During search, officers were able to recover 2.8 Kgs of Poppy Straw, 02 number plates and cash amount of Rs 1,00,160/.
Meanwhile in Anantnag, a police team from Police Station Srigufwara, intercepted a suspicious person carrying a nylon bag. He has been identified as Mohd Altaf Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat resident of Gonda, Rajouri A/P Sirhama. During search, 5 Kgs of cannabis powder was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.

The general public is requested to cooperate with Police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
