3-day orientation program for newly elected MLAs concludes

Jammu, Jan 11: “The MLAs should actively participate in the House proceedings with complete information of rules and procedures of the house, stated Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, while addressing the valedictory session of three day orientation program held for newly elected MLAs of J&K Assembly at Assembly Complex, Jammu.
The Speaker extended gratitude to all the participating members especially the newly elected members for ensuring their participation and listening patiently to the resource persons. He hoped that this orientation programme will help the newly elected members to deeply understand the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the House. He reiterated that it is the vigilant legislature that can make executive accountable of its duties and responsibilities.
The Speaker emphasized on the newly elected members to behave in a dignified manner in the House and follow the parliamentary democracy in true letter and spirit. He hoped that the newly elected Members have taken advantage of the said training program for ensuring their effective role in the Assembly.
The Speaker also thanked the MPs and PRIDE team for conducting such orientation program.
Earlier, Former MoS, Dr Satya Pal Singh, delivered lectures on Parliamentary Privileges, Customs, Conventions and Etiquettes.
Director Pride, Lok Sabha Secretariat, P K Mallick, also delivered lectures and gave details on the literal meaning of Privileges and its scope in safeguarding the status and protocol of MLAs.
Additional Secretary, Union Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Satya Prakash, gave lecture on the session of NEVA, (National E-Vidhan Application) under One Nation One Application and also highlighted the objectives of the programme.
During the session, the legislators also raised their queries and question regarding Privileges and other related issues.
Lastly, Secretary J&K Legislative Assembly, Manoj Kumar Pandit and P.K Mallick presented vote of thanks extending gratitude to the participating members, officers of various departments including the officers from PRIDE for making the programme successful.
Later, the Speaker felicitated the MPs and PRIDE team.
Director PRIDE also presented a memento to the Speaker.
