Srinagar, Jan 11: Amid sub-zero temperatures and heavy snowfall, the security forces have intensified vigilance and implemented stringent measures to prevent cross-border infiltration along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said here on Saturday.
An official said that security has been stepped up in the border districts such as Poonch, Rajouri, and north Kashmir.
He said that the Army and Border Security Force (BSF) have increased patrols and are maintaining a strong presence along the LoC. “Our focus remains on ensuring the sanctity of the LoC and preventing any infiltration attempts. Strict vigil is being maintained around the clock,” the official said.
In the Akhnoor sector in Jammu, a search operation was conducted after intelligence inputs indicated suspicious movement in the area.
The security forces have implemented a multi-layered defense mechanism, combining advanced surveillance systems, routine patrols, and intelligence gathering. “These measures aim to provide real-time information about suspicious activities near the LoC,” he said.
The official said that intelligence inputs are analyzed swiftly, and responses are executed to neutralize potential threats.
“Utilizing extensive training and modern technology, security forces are ensuring that infiltration attempts are thwarted effectively. Soldiers are working tirelessly under challenging conditions to uphold the country’s security,” the official said.
Ashok Yadav, Inspector General of BSF Kashmir, visited forward locations to review the winter preparedness and security measures. During his visit, as per the official, he interacted with troops stationed in these areas and acknowledged their dedication.
The official said the visit was aimed at assessing the troops’ readiness to counter challenges posed by winter weather. “Our teams are equipped with the necessary tools to handle all situations effectively,” a top BSF official.
