For the last couple of days, back-to-back events are taking place in which the Food Safety department took a series of measures and launched a drive against the people found involved in unhygienic practices while selling the food stuff on the carts. But, one fails to understand why the authorities have failed to ensure a proper check within the markets, especially in Srinagar to take action against the people involved in selling essentials on exorbitant rates. From bakery to other things, there is a need to ensure a proper check and make sure that the people are not pushed to the wall, especially at a time when they need to be facilitated during the holy month of Ramadhan. The holy month of Ramadhan is approaching and the Muslims across Jammu and Kashmir are buying essentials in markets. A massive rush of the shoppers, especially in Srinagar’s commercial hub Lal Chowk is being witnessed for the last few days, thus the need for ensuring proper monitoring and price control mechanisms in the markets becomes crucial. At this juncture, the cooperation from traders is must to ensure that the common masses will not face any hardships.
