Srinagar, Mar 5: Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 30 per cent above the average precipitation in the past five days, thereby increasing the water level in the river Jhelum and other streams.
As per the data, against the average rainfall of 25.4mm, Jammu and Kashmir has recorded a rainfall of 33mm from March 1 to 5.
The highest precipitation was recorded in Bandipora with details revealing that the station recorded 68% rainfall above than the average precipitation.
As per the data, nine stations including Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K, Budgam, Baramulla, Doda, Kupwara, Pulwama, Rajouri, Shopian and Udhampur recorded excess rainfall, which varies from 20% to 59% above than the normal rainfall.
Reasi, Samba and Kathua stations however, recorded the deficit rainfall during the period, the data reads, adding that some of the stations including Ramban, Kishtwar and Bandipora have recorded large excess rainfall in the last five days.
Anantnag, Ganderbal, Jammu, Kulgam and Poonch have recorded normal precipitation during the period.
The recent wet spell has recharged the water bodies in Kashmir.
As per the data, river Jhelum at Ram Munshi Bagh was flowing at 4.47 feet this evening, showing a rise in the water level.
The other streams too witnessed a rise in the water level following the recent back-to-back wet spell in Jammu and Kashmir.
Pertinently, the weatherman here has predicted another wet spell from March 10 in Jammu and Kashmir, saying that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain and snow (higher reaches) at many places on March 10 and 11, adding that the cloudy weather conditions are expected on march 12 while a spell of rain and snow is expected on March 13 and 14.
