In 2 years, J&K exports 508.29 MTs of fruit, generates Rs 2806.22 crore

Srinagar, Mar 14: In two years Jammu and Kashmir has exported 508.29 thousand metric tonnes (MTs) of fruits, generating a revenue of Rs 2,806.22 crore.
According to the data of the Agriculture Production Department (Horticulture), Baramulla district emerged as the largest contributor, with ‘Sopore Mandi’ alone exporting 184.52 thousand MTs of fruits, accounting for Rs 992 crore. Another ‘Kanispora Mandi’ in Baramulla district exported 0.96 thousand MTs, with a turnover of Rs 3.51 crore.
Shopian followed as the second-largest exporter, shipping 125.73 thousand MTs of fruits through ‘Aglar Mandi,’ generating a revenue of Rs 657.53 crore.
Srinagar’s ‘Parimpora Mandi’ also played a significant role, exporting 40.45 thousand MTs, with a turnover of Rs 258.30 crore.
Other major contributors, according to KNO, include Pulwama, which has two mandis: Prichoo (27.45 thousand MTs, 157.68 crore) and Pachhar (20.81 thousand MTs, 115.33 crore).
Anantnag’s ‘Batingo Mandi’ exported 22.42 thousand MTs, earning 87.04 crore, while Kupwara’s ‘Handwara Mandi’ saw an export of 28.28 thousand MTs with a revenue of 96.04 crore.
In the Jammu division, ‘Narwal Mandi’ contributed significantly, exporting 25.01 thousand MTs, generating Rs 170.32 crore.
Some districts had lower exports, such as Ganderbal (6.78 thousand MTs, 29 crore), Budgam (6.30 thousand MTs, 30.27 crore), and Kupwara’s second mandi (2.56 thousand MTs, 148.20 crore).
