USBRL project open new horizons for Kashmir

The cross-border shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) has left a lifetime scar for many of the families living in the border areas as they lost their dear ones, thereby shattering the dreams of these families. The human cost of cross-border hostilities remains deeply personal and painful for those directly affected. However, in order to share their grief and assist the affected families, the government has made a much-needed announcement Wednesday declaring a government job for the closest kin of all those who lost their lives in the shelling. This decision goes beyond policy. It is a gesture of acknowledgement, justice and support. For the families left behind, no measure can fully replace the lives lost. Yet, offering government jobs to the kin of victims serves multiple purposes. It provides immediate financial stability, restores a sense of dignity and reaffirms the state’s commitment to stand with its people during their darkest hours. This is not just about employment. It is a symbolic message that the government sees its people not as mere statistics in a conflict narrative but as individuals whose pain is valid and whose contributions to the national fabric, especially in vulnerable border areas, are irreplaceable. However, the healing process cannot stop here. These appointments must be followed by broader efforts like enhanced compensation packages, psychological counselling for the affected families and a comprehensive review of civilian safety infrastructure in border areas. The recurrence of such tragedies underscores the need for fortified shelters and robust civilian protection protocols during escalations.
