Srinagar, May 29: After an intensive four-day search, the body of 24-year-old Umar was fished out from Jhelum on Thursday morning.
The victim had jumped into the Jhelum River near Zaina Kadal Bridge.
An official said that a joint teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and River Police conducted continuous search operations for four days to retrieve the body.
After fishing out the victim, the body was sent for legal- medico formalities and was later handed over to family after completing the procedures.
The news has left Umar’s family and community devastated. His funeral was held in Kawdara, Srinagar, amid tearful eyes. Relatives, friends, and neighbours gathered to bid a painful farewell to the young man.
In the meantime, police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances that led to the incident. (KNO)
