Srinagar, Jun 6: People’ Democratic Front President Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Friday warmly welcomed the inauguration of the Vande Bharat Express train service by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Srinagar route. He described the launch as a significant leap forward in modernizing Jammu and Kashmir’s transportation infrastructure.
“This introduction of the Vande Bharat Express marks a new chapter in Jammu and Kashmir’s connectivity and development,” said President Yaseen. “Faster, comfortable, and reliable train services will not only boost tourism but also create new avenues for economic growth and integration with the rest of India.”
President Yaseen emphasized the importance of such infrastructure projects in bringing lasting peace and prosperity to the region. “Improved connectivity is vital to unlocking the potential of Jammu and Kashmir’s youth and entrepreneurs. It will pave the way for greater social and economic inclusion.”
While appreciating the project, PPF President Yaseen reiterated the urgent need for political and economic reforms in Jammu and Kashmir. “Alongside infrastructure development, it is crucial that the government addresses issues like statehood restoration, special status, and unemployment among youth to build a sustainable future for the people.”
He said this infrastructure milestone will open up the region to new opportunities, boost tourism, and integrate Kashmir more closely with the rest of India.”
Despite this progress, President Yaseen emphasized that development cannot be meaningful without political justice. “The Government of India must fulfill its constitutional obligations by restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, which was promised in Parliament, and reinstate the special status that respects the unique identity of Kashmir,” he stated firmly.
Addressing the pressing issue of youth unemployment, President Yaseen demanded the announcement of a comprehensive and special package to create jobs and empower young people across Jammu and Kashmir. “Our youth deserve focused government action to combat unemployment and provide them with viable career opportunities,” he said.
Yaseen urged all political stakeholders to come together in the interest of peace, stability, and sustained development. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir seek dignity, justice, and progress. The rail link is a step forward, but the journey is far from complete.”
The Udhampur-Baramulla rail project, traversing difficult Himalayan terrain, is a strategic and developmental initiative that symbolizes India’s commitment to the region’s growth and integration.
