DC Srinagar reviews implementation of Water Supply projects under AMRUT 2.0

Srinagar, Jun 26: To review the implementation of water supply projects under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0 in the District, the Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo Thursday chaired a meeting with Engineers of Jal Shakti Department here at meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner held comprehensive discussions on the progress of various approved schemes under AMRUT 2.0. He also conducted a project wise review of all the schemes.
On the occasion, the DC emphasized on swift pace of works to ensure expeditious completion of water supply projects being executed under AMRUT 2.0 in Srinagar District. He underscored that any issue hampering the progress of AMRUT 2.0 shall be resolved through inter-departmental coordination forthwith for smooth implementation of the projects on ground. He directed the Officers to expedite the formulation of the pending DPRs besides promptly initiating & completing the tendering process for the approved projects.
While highlighting the significance of AMRUT 2.0., the DC said that the scheme is aimed to prioritize ensuring quality water availability and timely augmentation of existing water supply capacities for urban areas and stressed upon the officers to intensify the efforts to ensure timely completion of all projects so that people are benefited from the scheme.
Earlier, the DC was apprised by Superintending Engineer Hydraulic Circle Srinagar through a detailed powerpoint presentation the progress of different projects under the scheme.
The DC was informed that a total number of 20 projects have been approved for Srinagar City, out of which 18 projects have been tendered out and allotted.
The DC was further informed that with the execution of AMRUT 2.0 scheme, Srinagar City shall be self-sufficient to address water demand for a long time ahead.
Besides Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar and Superintending Engineer Hydraulic Circle Srinagar, Er. Anbreena Anjum, the meeting was attended by Executive Engineers of Water Works Division, Water Supply Master Plan Division, Rural Water Works, PHE Mechanical & I&FC and other concerned Officers.
