Srinagar, Jun 30: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice, led by its Chairman and BJP MP Brij Lal, on Monday visited the Dal Lake near SKICC on a boat as part of their 10-day study visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
The panel also visited the famous Gulmarg on Sunday, and is on a routine tour to assess public grievances, policy implementation and tourism development in the Union Territory.
Speaking to the media in Gulmarg, BJP MP Brij Lal said, they are currently in Kashmir for their annual study visit. “We will hold discussions with the J&K government and public sector bodies regarding various issues including public grievances and tourism,” he said.
He also said the influx of tourists indicates that fear no longer prevails in the region. “The normalcy I saw here, with the number of tourists coming, shows that peace is returning to J&K,” he said.
Meanwhile, sources also said the committee is expected to meet various stakeholders during their visit in coming days.
