Budgam, Jul 4: In view of the forthcoming observance of Ashura (10th Muharram-ul-haram), Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, Friday conducted a comprehensive review and on-spot assessment of arrangements at Beheshte Zehra Park Budgam -a key congregation site for mourners in the district.
During the inspection, DC interacted with concerned officers and took stock of the facilities being put in place to ensure a smooth and peaceful conduct of the Ashura procession.
He emphasised the need for inter-departmental coordination and timely completion of all preparatory measures.
DC issued a series of on-the-spot directives to the departments involved.
He instructed EO Municipal Committee Budgam to install adequate tents and shelters for mourners, ensure regular sanitation drives, and place sufficient dustbins in and around the park as well as along procession routes to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
Jal Shakti department was directed to keep water tankers readily available and ensure uninterrupted tap water supply to the public convenience blocks at the site.
KPDCL was asked to check and ensure the functionality of streetlights and guarantee uninterrupted electricity supply during the procession timings, particularly in congregation zones.
CMO Budgam was instructed to deploy an adequate number of paramedical staff and emergency medical facilities at designated locations to respond swiftly to any health emergencies during the procession.
DC underscored the importance of dedicated and sensitive approach by all departments, keeping in view the significance of the day.
He directed all line departments to work in close coordination and ensure all arrangements are in place well ahead of time.
District administration Budgam has appealed to the general public, especially participants of the Ashura procession, to extend full cooperation with the authorities and adhere to all issued guidelines for observance of the day.
DC was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Budgam, Chief Planning Officer (CPO), Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Tehsildar Budgam, all Executive Engineers, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Budgam, and other concerned officers and officials during his visit.
