Bandipora residents allege unscheduled power cuts

Bandipora, Nov 9: As the winter is round the corner, people from different areas of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district Tuesday complaining of unscheduled and extended power cuts demanded an immediate end to such measures.
Locals said that the area including Gsmroou, Gundpora, Lawdara, CA-Khan, Arin, Sumlar Kudara, Chuntimulla and Srinder are the worst affected, where locals say they are getting electricity for less than few hours daily.
The consumers even despite belonging to metered areas alleged that the power cuts have grown severe for the past few weeks, giving tough time to people, especially during evening hours.
The locals complained that the electricity of around 50 villages is dependent on a single feeder which is the main cause of long power cuts to these areas.
Mushtaq Ahmad, a local, said that about 50 villages from Lawdara to Qudara get the electricity from the same single feeder.
“PDD has failed to provide the electricity as per the announced schedule in the area,” Mushtaq alleged. “The department doesn’t adhere to the schedule due to which the students preparing for examinations are facing hardships.”
“We many times approached the district administration and concerned PDD authorities for restoration of power but they miserably failed,” Rizwan Mir, another local resident said.
The locals requested the higher ups to look into the matter and solve their genuine demands at an earliest so that they can heave a sigh of relief.
