Shopian, Nov 20: A new type primary health centre in Imamsahib area of south Kashmir’s Shopian is functioning without adequate staff and other basic facilities.
Residents of Imamsahib said that after around three decades building of NTPHC was completed recently and has started functioning but facilities are the same as it were in the rented building.
They said that locals from around 30 villages are facing health care problems as no facilities are available at the centre.
Mohammed Ashraf, a local resident, said that there are just two staff members available at the centre and no facilities apart from the first aid.
“First locals suffered as the government failed to complete the building for around 30 years and when building was completed, there were no facilities available at the centre,” Ashraf said.
Another local resident said that there are no beds, no X-Ray facilities, no laboratory and just one doctor available at the centre.
He said that after the centre was shifted to a new building, one pharmacist who gives two days in a week has been deputed here.
“If government will equip the centre with good facilities, people of around 30 villages will get a big relief,” he said.
Locals requested higher ups to look into the matter and equip the centre with best facilities.
A health official said that they have already written to higher ups in this regard and very soon the centre will get facilities.
