Provide facilities to specially-abled persons

The occasion of international day for disabled persons which was celebrated world-wide on December 3, witnessed a number of events, organized by the government at different places. However, a look at the ground is depicting an otherwise picture, which indicates the sufferings of the people with disability. So far, the specially-abled persons have not been able to get a free and favourable atmosphere even in the government offices. According to the rules set by the government, the offices and officers should be stationed in the ground floor of the government offices to meet and deal with the handicapped persons. But, the irony is that most of the offices are located on the first or second floor due to which the specially-abled persons especially those who are wheelchair bound are suffering immensely. What is more miserable is that there are no sign boards visible at any place for the deaf and dumb persons in the government offices, thus leaving them to lurch at large. One fails to understand why the disabled persons are not being treated as per the rules. One cannot imagine the sufferings of specially-abled persons when it comes to the work at the government offices or other places. Therefore, the government should come out of the trend of organizing events on this day and should rather consider providing adequate facilities to the specially-abled persons so that they are not forced to face hardships and could heave a sigh of relief.
