Srinagar, Dec 22: The locals from Rose Colony and Friends Colony in Mehjoor Nagar area of Srinagar city on Wednesday staged a protest against Power Development Department for failing to upgrade the transformer and forcing them to install smart metres in their Colonies.
The protesters said that from past 20 days they area without electricity as power transformer in their colonies has developed technical snag.
“We have been repeatedly appealing PDD to upgrade the transformer in our colonies but all our pleas have gone to deaf ears,” local Balbir Singh said.
The protesters alleged that PDD is forcing them to get the smart metres installed in their areas.
“We are being selectively targeted. Why to select our colonies only for the smart metres while other adjacent colonies have been left out. This is injustice towards us,” the protesters said. (KNT)
