J&K EDI conducts 3000 awareness progs in 17 years, 17000 participate

Srinagar, Jan 4: The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) has conducted over three thousand Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes (EAPs) in the past 17 years with more than seventeen thousand participants.
Established in 1997, the JKEDI started its regular activities in February 2004 and has set up three Regional Centres – one each in Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh.
As per the official data, the number of EAPS conducted by JKEDI from 2003-04 to 2020-21 were 3003 and number of people who participated in the programs were 176812.
The document states that the Institute has taken a gigantic leap in its entrepreneurship training activities from 2003-04 to 2020-21.
“The Institute maintains and constantly improves its distinctiveness as a premier multidisciplinary development institution through cross-cutting approaches of awareness, training, consultancy and investment in entrepreneurship education and research,” it reads.
As per the latest figures, the number of Entrepreneurship Training Programs (EDPs) conducted by the institute from 2004 to 2021 were 1033 and number of participants were 37002 including 103 (under Himayat till 30-3-2021).
Further, the number of Entrepreneurship Orientation Programs (EOPs) was 267 and participants were 1134.
“In line with its mandate, the institute strives to develop entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial culture through entrepreneurship education, skill upgradation, knowledge dissemination, consultancy services and developing linkages with national and international organisations to make entrepreneurship the mainstay of the economy here.” it reads.
Pertinently, the Institute has its presence in all the 22 districts of the J&K besides having two District Centres in Leh and Kargil and two separate Centre for Women one each in Srinagar and Jammu.
