Anantnag, Feb 2: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla Wednesday visited Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag to inspect the functioning of various wings of the institution and also held interaction with the staff and students of the college.
The DC was accompanied by Prinicipal GMC, Dr Tariq Qureshi on the occasion.
The DC also interacted with the patients admitted at the facility in different wards who shared their feedback regarding the services being provided. They expressed satisfaction with the quality of healthcare being provided to them.
Dr Singla inspected the state of the art Microbiology lab. Interacting with the staff, he was briefed about the various tests being conducted. He stressed that the facility must be efficiently utilized to maximum capacity so as to maximize the number of tests that are analyzed at the facility with focus on RTPCR testing.
Dr Singla also inspected the functioning of the forensic wing and CT Scan lab. The Principal informed the DC that the CT Scan lab has turned out to be an economic alternative for patients who had to seek the facility at private centres or go to Srinagar for the same.
The Deputy Commissioner also discussed patient footfall to the lab.
Reviewing the progress with regards to shifting to the Dialgam campus, Dr Singla was informed that 5 blocks have already been shifted to the new campus and in the next two months, the entire facility will operate from the new campus.
Interacting with the staff and students at the college, Dr Singla emphasized that punctuality of on duty staff must be ensured. He lauded the medical fraternity for the instrumental role they are playing in overcoming the COVID pandemic.
