Kokarnag, May 6: A woman died on Thursday afternoon after being swept away in a flash flood at Larnoo area of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police said.
Station House Officer (SHO) Larnoo, Nisar Ahmad Hurra said that 37-year-old Sakeena Begum wife of Nazir Ahmad Itoo, a resident of Narsanger Larnoo Anantnag died after being washed away in flood caused by heavy rains in Shutru Larnoo area of Kokernag.
He said she was working with her husband in the fields and after coming home on the way she fell into a water body where flow of water was high due to heavy rains resulting in her death.
The body was later retrieved and handed over to her relatives for last rites, SHO said.
