Celebrating Muslim festival, Eid, is incomplete until the people give charity in the shape of Sadaqat-al-Fitr to the deserving people. Sadaqat-al-Fitr is Wajib upon such a person who owns assets, which equal the value of the Nisab. The owner of Nisab in the ruling as regards Sadaqa-e-Fitr is such a person who has 7 ½ Tola gold (93 grams 312 milligrams,) or 52 ½ Tola silver (653 grams 184 milligrams), or their equivalent value in money or any other form of asset. Islam says that each person should give away in charity an amount equivalent to 1.760 kilograms of wheat. However, it has been observed that the people usually ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr could be seen on the roads and seek Sadaqat-al-Fitr from the Muslims, which is against the principals of Islam. The Islamic Jurists have time and again asked people not to give Sadaqat-al-Fitr to beggars who approach people for different alms during the last ten days of Ramadan. Muslim should avoid giving Sadkat-ul-Fitr to the people who are professional beggars. It stands the obligation of every individual to verify whether the beggar, whom he is giving Sadaqat-al-Fitr is needy. There is a need to identify the needy persons within the locality including among their relatives. According to the Islam, it is permissible to give Sadaqat-al-Fitr to the Islamic study centres but only needy and deserving people should take benefit from that. Therefore, the Muslims must ensure that only deserving people get the Sadaqat-al-Fitr and those who are professional beggars should not be considered deserving and must not be given the Sadaqat-al-Fitr.
