Gurez, Feb 28: Diesel Generator supplying electricity to at least five villages in Gurez town of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district was completely damaged in a fire incident.
The Diesel Generator is stationed at Kanzalwan village and was the source of electricity to villages like Kanzalwan, Izmarg, Naibasti, Jalindoora and Chuntiwari.
All these villages are without electricity after the fire incident.
Divulging information about the incident, Chairman, Block Development Council-Kanzalwan, Mukhtar Ahmed said that the generator caught fire due to the short circuit during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.
“The generator has been gutted completely. The fire was controlled by locals with the help of Army and Police,” he said adding that a request has been made to authorities to repair the generator without any delay. (KNT)
