Schools re-open: CAB adherence pivotal

The students as well as the parents are jubilant in Kashmir valley as the schools and other educational institutions are set to reopen here after the outbreak of Covid-19. The government after inoculating the children above 15 years of age decided resumption of offline classes with 50 per cent attendance. It has been nearly three years that the students remained away from the Schools due to one reason or the other, causing huge educational losses to the students as according to the educationalists, the online education is not the proper means to teach the students, but has only led to the academic losses. Therefore, in wake of such statements, the resumption of offline classes in the Valley has brought smiles on the faces of students as well as their parents. However, amid the joyous situation, one must not forget the pandemic, which still exists in Jammu and Kashmir. Although the cases have declined, there is no end to the pandemic so far, thus the people who are disobeying the set guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are at huge risk of getting infected. In such a situation, the government must ensure that the guidelines are followed in letter and spirit so that there is no untoward incident at any educational institute and the students as well as the teachers are healthy. The government should consider forming committees in all the districts to check whether the SOPs are followed in the institute and strict action should be taken against those institutes where norm violation is reported.
