Srinagar, Mar 1: The Director Agriculture Kashmir (Controller Insecticides) Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal Tuesday held an interactive session with pesticides and insecticide traders at Shopian, Kulgam and Anantnag.
Addressing the meeting, the Director asked the stakeholders that the quality of different inputs including insecticides, pesticides being made available to the farming community plays a decisive role in the overall success of the Agriculture enterprise, therefore to ensure that the only quality/ genuine inputs is made available to our consumer is our collective professional and moral responsibility.
The Traders assured the Director that the pesticides traders will follow insecticide act 1968 and Govt orders from time to time.
Meanwhile, the Director said in the meeting that the department is vigorously working and pursuing an endeavour to ensure that only the genuine quality products (Insecticide/pesticides) reaches the customer (the farmer). The quality of the agriculture inputs (insecticides/ pesticides) plays a key role in the successful agriculture enterprise.
Iqbal said that the availability of a quality product to the farmer not only reduces the overall cost of cultivation of a particular crop but it also contributes to the sustainability of crop cultivation.
Iqbal said that the Department has already adopted a multidimensional monitoring mechanism to stop the movement of unregistered/banned material in the region and we are expecting good results in days to come. Our internal vigilance monitoring system is ambitiously working in the entire region to curb the menace of unregistered insecticides/ pesticides.
The awareness camp was also attended by Chief Agriculture officer Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian, Deputy Director Law Enforcement Kashmir, Javed Samoon and other senior officers along with President Pesticide Association Shopian, Kulgam, Anantnag and other members of respective Associations.
