Bandipora, Mar 12: After remaining closed for nearly three months due to accumulation of heavy snow, the authorities on Saturday allowed one-way traffic movement on 85-km long Bandipora-Gurez road.
“Soon after clearing the snow by utilizing the men and machinery of BRO, the road was reopened today for the one-way vehicular movement of passengers and essential commodities from Bandipora to Gurez,” officials said.
They said that the drivers have been directed to travel to Gurez with snow-skid chains as a precautionary measure.
Notably, Gurez area remained cut off from the rest of the Kashmir due to the accumulation of snow along the high peaks through which the road passes. (KNO)
