The ‘Mission Waapsi’ is a need of the hour, but there are certain things that are delaying the immediate results within the society. Pertinently, Mission Waapsi is an initiative taken by the district administration Srinagar and police jointly against the drug addicts to ensure that they are brought back and the menace is eradicated from the society. It was only after the incidents of theft and attack on the girls in Srinagar at their home that the much-needed initiative was taken. Many raids and arrests are so far the outcome of the initiative, but one needs to understand that the initiative would not prove success until and unless the society in whole and the local religious clerics in particular are involved in it. One fails to understand why there has been no consideration over it as the local Imams have a pivotal role to play in the present situation when the youngsters—both boys as well as girls are involved in the menace. The menace cannot be eradicated without spreading awareness among the masses, but it could only be dealt with in a proper way, which needs the action as well as the guidance. Therefore, to ensure better and immediate results in this regard, there is a need to involve the locals especially the Imams and other religious clerics, who can become a game changer in this initiative and put an end to the threat of drugs within the society.
