‘The Kashmir Files’ aimed at sowing seeds of hatred: Sajad Lone

Kokernag, Mar 22: Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone on Tuesday said Bollywood movie “The Kashmir Files” is a bad fiction intended at sowing seeds of hatred between different communities.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a public gathering in south Kashmir’s Kokernag town, Lone, said people like Vivek Aghnitori and Anupam Kher are desperate to go to Rajya Sabha and can go to any extent to secure the berth. “They should be sent to Rajya Sabha, otherwise they will drown this country in hatred,” Lone said.
Lone said that Kashmiri Muslims have suffered 50 times more than their Pandit brethren during the past three decades. “We all have suffered. I have lost my father to bullets. Pandits are our brothers, we love them. We understand pain and sufferings of Kashmiri Pandits but Kashmiri Muslims have suffered 50 times more than them,” he said.
Lone said PC will never be part of any move to endorse August 5, 2019 changes and was among the first ones to challenge these decisions in the Supreme Court. “If there is ever any such move, PC will never ever be a part of it. As far as NC and PDP are concerned, every betrayal of the past has their evil signature. You want us to believe that the hands that didn’t take a second to sign two hangings will actually stand up for the Kashmiris,” he said, when asked about statements made by NC and PDP that BJP plans to pass a resolution in the J & K UT assembly for supporting August 5, 2019 changes.
“I don’t think there is any constitutional space to pass a resolution since the matter is sub-judice. Let Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti understand the legal position as on date and stop befooling people. The only non-federal institution to have a constitutional say in the matter would have been the constituent assembly of J&K, not a legislative assembly and not to talk of a UT,” he said.
He, however, added that if in the future Delhi under any political dispensation needs any sort of overt or covert endorsement of any sort, “ I can bet my life that it will be either NC or PDP who will affix their servile thumbs to anything as long as it gives them power”.
“I am not imagining things. Let them enlighten us, who has signed in the last seven decades on everything and anything that Delhi ordered,” he said.
Lone said NC and PDP should first answer for their past deeds before talking about future.
“They should first answer to the people about civilian killings, PSA detentions and blinding during their tenures,” he said, adding that they have to answer for rigging of the 1987 elections.
“My hands are not drenched in blood of any Kashmiri. I have not detained any Kashmir nor have I signed any death warrant. I am not involved in rigging elections. I have seen jails and torture. I was interrogated and hung upside down during my two month detention in 1990,” he said.
On the occasion, NC DDC member Sagam Advocate Saleem Parrey joined PC.
Among others, senior PC leader Peerzada Mansoor Hussain addressed the gathering.
