Baramulla, Apr 1: In order to boost the morale of the cricket players and to encourage sports activities among the youth, an annual award ceremony was held Friday at Dak Bungalow, here.
On the occasion, Cricket Players were awarded for the best performance and contribution they have shown in the sports field.
The Annual award ceremony was organised by Sultan Warriors Cricket Club which was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar as the chief guest.
On the occasion, the DC extended his warm greetings to the cricket players who have shown exemplary achievements and contributions in the cricket and hoped that they would inspire other youth to engage them in sports activities. He urged upon the youngsters to work hard in the sports field and come out as the legends in National and International level.
He also stated that sports play an important role in an overall personality development of an individual. He emphasised on youth to take full advantage of the platform provided to them which is aimed to boost the sports activities and channelize energy towards positive goals.
The DC also sought suggestions from the prominent sports lovers and youngsters for the upgradation of sports infrastructure in the district during which he assured them full cooperation and reiterated that upgradation of sports infrastructure will be among the top priorities of the district administration.
Meanwhile, Bureau Chief Lake City Times newspaper and K Den Network, Arshad Farooq bagged an award for the best journalist during the function. The award was provided to the journalist for his commendable social service and impartial and regress efforts for reaching to the common public of the district and highlighting their grievances. Several media persons of the district were also felicitated on the occasion for their active cooperation in covering and highlighting the sports events in the district.
