Ganderbal, Apr 4: Residents of Padabal Cherwan village of Kangan Tehsil in Ganderbal are facing an acute shortage of drinking water for the last six days.
They said that they are not receiving regular potable water supply causing them hardships during Ramadhan.
Accusing the concerned Jal Shakti department officials for ignoring their pleas, residents demanded their issue should be addressed.
Showkat Magray, a local, said that they are collecting water from streams for drinking and cooking purposes now.
“Our children quite often fall sick by drinking unsafe and mud-filled water,” he said, adding their repeated pleas are falling on deaf ears.
They said if their grievances would not be redressed they would launch an agitation against the concerned department.
Meanwhile, an official from the Jal-Shakti department assured they will address the issue on priority.
