SMC accords sanction to levy municipal fee to oil depots

‘Rs 50 per litre to be charged for per kilolitre of petrol, diesel, kerosene’

Srinagar, Apr 7: Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has accorded sanction to the levying of Municipal fee in respect of oil depots located within the municipality limits at the rate of Rs 50 per kilolitre of petrol, diesel and kerosene leaving the premises of Oil Depots operations.
An order issued by SMC Commissioner, Athar Amir Khan, reads that a proposal was submitted by Chief Revenue Officer, SMC for levying of Municipal Fee in respect of Oil Depots of different Oil Companies operational within the limits of Srinagar Municipal Corporation at the rate of Rs 50 per Kilo Litre on the analogy of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
“Various Municipal Corporation are already levying Fuel Feel Charges/ Cess to augment revenue resource for the Corporation and to make-good the wear and tear/ damages caused to Municipal infrastructure in the city,” the order reads.
It added that vide order number 878 of 2021 dated: 01-07-2021, a committee was constituted for fixation of rates to be charged from Oil Companies having areas of operations within the Srinagar Municipal Corporation Limits.
“The Committee has decided to fix the rates at par with Jammu Municipal Corporation i.e. Rs. 50 per Kilo litre of Petrol, diesel, Kerosene leaving Oil Depots located within the limits of Srinagar Municipal Corporation.”
“Now, in furtherance of the above said decisions of meeting held on 06.13.2021, and in pursuance to section-324 of J&K Municipal Corporation Act, 2000, sanction is hereby accorded to the levying of Municipal Fee in respect of Oil Depots located within the Srinagar Municipal Corporation Limits @ Rs. 50 per kilolitre of Petrol/ Diesel/ Kerosene leaving the premises of Oil Depots operations in Srinagar Municipal Corporation Limits,” it added.
It is further ordered that the above Municipal Fee shall be deposited by the respective Oil Companies in the form of DD/Cheque/RTGS/NEFT with Financial Advisor Chief Accounts Officer, Srinagar Municipal Corporation every 5th of next Month in the Srinagar Municipal Corporation account under number 0216010100000931.
